What does a Brisbane tax accountant actually do for you?
A registered tax accountant does three jobs: compliance — preparing and lodging accurate returns, BAS and financial statements on time; optimisation — claiming every deduction, offset and concession you're legally entitled to; and planning — restructuring how income and assets are held so next year's bill is lower before the year ends. We do all three for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSFs across Brisbane, from our office at Wakerley.
- Individual returns from $150, quoted in writing
- Lodgement deadline extended to 15 May through a registered agent
- CPA-qualified, TPB-registered, professionally insured
- Year-round access — not just July to October

More than compliance — a financial partner.
Anyone can key numbers into a return. The value is in what gets decided before the numbers exist.
CPA-qualified, TPB-registered
Every return is prepared and reviewed by a CPA Australia member registered with the Tax Practitioners Board — with professional indemnity cover behind it.
Audit-ready records
Claims are substantiated as we go, so if the ATO asks a question years later, the evidence is already on file. No aggressive positions, no nasty surprises.
Proactive, not reactive
We meet clients before 30 June, not after, when timing decisions on income, asset purchases and super contributions can still change the outcome.
Fixed fees, quoted upfront
You approve a written fee before work starts. No hourly surprises, and the fee is deductible next year.
48-hour turnaround
Most individual returns are prepared within two business days of receiving your documents, with progress you can actually track.
Available all year

Client feedback
What Brisbane clients say.
They handle our BAS and company return, and the difference is that they tell us what's coming before it lands. Cash flow stopped being a guessing game.
Two investment properties and a share portfolio — my previous return missed the depreciation schedule entirely. That one fix paid for years of fees.
Setting up the SMSF felt daunting. The trust deed, the rollover, the first audit — all handled, all explained in language I understood.

Common questions
Brisbane tax questions, answered plainly.
The eight questions we're asked most — fees, deadlines, documents, and what an accountant is genuinely worth.
How much does a tax return cost in Brisbane?
A straightforward individual return with standard work-related deductions starts at $150. Returns with rental properties, share or crypto disposals, or multiple income streams typically run $250–$450. Sole trader returns including a business schedule start at $350, and company, trust or partnership returns start at $900 depending on bookkeeping quality. We quote a fixed fee in writing before any work starts, and our fee is itself deductible in next year's return.
Do I need a tax agent, or can I lodge through myGov myself?
You can lodge yourself, and for a single-employer return with no deductions myTax is perfectly adequate. A registered tax agent becomes worth the fee when there is complexity or risk: rental properties, crypto or share disposals, a business, work-from-home claims, multiple jobs, or late returns. Lodging through an agent also extends your deadline from 31 October to as late as 15 May the following year, and puts a professional on the record if the ATO reviews your claims.
What documents do I need for my tax return?
Most income data is pre-filled by the ATO, but you'll need: your PAYG income statement (or myGov prefill), bank interest, dividend and managed-fund statements, private health insurance details, and records for anything you're claiming — receipts over $300 in total work expenses, a vehicle log book, home-office hours, and for rental properties the agent's annual summary, loan interest, rates, insurance and a depreciation schedule. We send a personalised checklist so nothing gets missed.
How quickly will I get my refund?
We prepare most individual returns within 48 hours of receiving your documents. Once lodged electronically, the ATO issues refunds in about 10–14 business days, subject to any outstanding debts or integrity checks. Business returns and BAS lodgements follow your reporting cycle.
Can we do everything remotely, or do I have to come in?
Either. Clients across Brisbane, Logan, Redlands and Ipswich work with us entirely by phone, email and secure video, with documents uploaded to an encrypted portal and returns signed electronically. If you'd rather sit down together, our Wakerley office is a short drive from Wynnum, Carindale, Capalaba and the Gateway.
Are you registered, and what does that mean for me?
Yes. Our accountants are CPA Australia members and registered with the Tax Practitioners Board as Tax Agents and BAS Agents. Only registered agents may legally charge a fee to prepare and lodge your return. Registration means professional indemnity cover, a binding Code of Professional Conduct, mandatory continuing education, and access to the Tax Agent Portal on your behalf.
What can a tax accountant actually save me?
Savings come from three places: deductions you didn't know were claimable, structural decisions made before income is earned (entity choice, income splitting, timing of asset purchases and disposals), and avoided penalties. A single correctly-prepared depreciation schedule on an investment property, or a well-timed concessional super contribution inside the $30,000 cap, often covers our annual fee several times over.
Which suburbs and areas do you service?
We service all of greater Brisbane — the CBD and inner suburbs, Northside, Bayside, South Brisbane, plus Redland City, Logan City and Ipswich. That's around 200 suburb service areas. Our office is at 118 Lexey Crescent, Wakerley.
