What will my accounting cost?

For most people, less than they expect and more than the cheapest online option. Individual returns start at $150, sole traders at $350, companies and trusts at $900 with financial statements, and ongoing business packages at $220 a month. The estimator below adds the common complications — rental properties, crypto, catch-up years, payroll — so the number reflects your actual situation.

  • Individual returns from $150
  • Business packages from $220/month
  • Fees fixed before work starts
  • Agent fees are deductible next year

FAQ

About the estimate.

Is the estimate a quote?

No — it's built from our published starting fees and typical add-ons, so it lands close for most situations. Your fixed fee is confirmed in writing after a free consultation, and we don't start work until you've approved it.

Why do other accountants refuse to give a number?

Usually because they bill hourly, so they genuinely don't know. We price fixed, which forces us to understand the job before quoting — and lets us publish the numbers.

What makes an estimate go up?

Missing records, unreconciled bookkeeping, multiple entities, prior-year catch-up, and complexity you didn't mention. We'd rather find that in a 15-minute call than in an invoice.

Do you price-match?

No. There's always someone cheaper, and with tax the cheap version often costs more later — a missed depreciation schedule or a botched structure outlives the saving by years. What we do is tell you honestly when you don't need us.

What moves the number

Four things drive an accounting fee.

None of them is how big your business feels. Fees track the work, and the work tracks these.

  1. 1

    Record quality

A reconciled Xero file and a folder of receipts costs a fraction of a shoebox and a bank feed nobody has touched since October. This is the single largest variable, and the one entirely within your control.

  2. 2

    Number of entities and schedules

Each company, trust, partnership and SMSF is a separate return with its own statements. Each rental property, share portfolio and crypto exchange adds a schedule.

  3. 3

    Prior-year catch-up

Late years must be reconstructed and lodged in sequence, often with penalty remission requests and a payment arrangement. Priced per year, from $180.

  4. 4

    Advice versus compliance

Lodging what happened is cheaper than changing what happens. Planning, structuring and valuations are project work priced on scope.

What every fixed fee includes

  • Preparation and independent review before lodgement
  • Electronic lodgement and assessment check
  • A plain-English explanation of the result
  • Questions answered through the year, not billed per call
  • ATO correspondence handled as your registered agent

What sits outside the fee

  • Third-party costs — ASIC fees, SMSF audit, quantity surveyor reports
  • Catch-up bookkeeping to make records usable (quoted separately, always)
  • Project work: valuations, restructures, forensic engagements
  • Financial product advice, which requires a licence we don't hold

Fees for managing your tax affairs are generally deductible in the following year, which the estimator shows at your marginal rate.
