About us
A Brisbane practice built on plain answers.
We started Tax Accountant Brisbane because too many people were paying for compliance and receiving no advice. Same return, same fee, no conversation about what could have been done differently.
Who is Tax Accountant Brisbane?
We are a CPA-qualified, TPB-registered accounting practice based at 118 Lexey Crescent, Wakerley, serving individuals, small businesses and SMSF trustees across greater Brisbane, Logan, Redland City and Ipswich. Practising since 2015, we handle individual and business tax returns, BAS and bookkeeping, SMSF administration, structuring and ATO disputes.

How we work
Every new client starts with a conversation, not a document request. We want to know how you earn, what you own, what you're planning in the next two years, and where tax has caused you grief before. Only then do we quote.
From there the pattern is consistent: we prepare, we explain, we plan. Explaining matters — if you don't understand why an expense isn't deductible or why a trust distribution was resolved a particular way, we haven't finished the job.
What we will not do
We don't take aggressive positions to manufacture a bigger refund. A claim that can't be substantiated is a liability with interest attached, and it's your name on the return. Where the law is genuinely grey we say so, document the reasoning, and let you decide with the risk stated plainly.
Who we work with
PAYG employees with straightforward returns. Sole traders and contractors who want their first proper structure conversation. Family companies and trusts needing consolidated compliance. Property investors with depreciation and CGT questions. SMSF trustees who want administration handled properly. Businesses across 21 industries, from tradies to eCommerce.

Our principles
Four commitments we make to every client.
You get the number first
A written fixed fee before work begins. If scope changes, we requote — you're never surprised by an invoice.
Substantiate everything
Claims are documented as they're made. A refund that survives review is worth more than a bigger one that doesn't.
Plan in the year, not after it
Timing decisions on income, purchases, disposals and super only work before 30 June. We book those conversations in advance.
One accountant, year after year
You deal with the person who knows your file, not a rotating queue.
Questions
About working with us.
Are you a registered tax agent?
Yes. Our accountants are registered with the Tax Practitioners Board as Tax Agents and BAS Agents, and are members of CPA Australia. You can verify any Australian agent's registration on the TPB public register before engaging them — we encourage it.
How do your fees work?
Fixed fees, quoted in writing after a free initial conversation, so you know the number before work starts. Individual returns start at $150; ongoing business packages (bookkeeping, BAS, payroll, year-end) are billed monthly from $220. Ad-hoc advice for existing clients is included in most packages rather than billed by the six-minute unit.
Do you take on clients with several years of unlodged returns?
Regularly, and without judgement. We reconstruct the missing years from ATO prefill data and your records, lodge them in the right sequence, and where appropriate request remission of failure-to-lodge penalties and negotiate a payment arrangement. Voluntary disclosure almost always ends better than waiting for the ATO to make first contact.
Can you work with my existing bookkeeper?
Yes — many clients keep their bookkeeper and use us for compliance, review and planning. We're certified in Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks, so we work inside your existing file rather than forcing a migration.
What happens if the ATO reviews or audits me?
We handle the correspondence. Because claims are substantiated at the time they're made, a review is usually a matter of forwarding documentation we already hold. If a position needs defending, we deal with the ATO on your behalf as your registered agent.
